Caregiving

Practical support for caregiving, safety, and daily life.

Caring for an aging parent or loved one with cognitive decline is one of the most demanding and most invisible roles a person can hold. You are managing logistics, emotions, grief, and love often all at once, often without much acknowledgment.

I know this terrain. I’ve navigated it with both of my parents, and I came out the other side with deep respect for every caregiver I’ve met since, and a clear sense of what resources I wish I’d had.

What I share here comes from that experience, not from clinical credentials. Where expert guidance is needed, I’ll always point you to the right people. What I can offer is a carefully curated collection of practical tools, trusted organizations, and thoughtful finds,  gathered with the compassion this journey deserves.

What Those Little Produce Stickers Actually Mean

Updated August 5, 2026 A Plain-Language Guide to PLU Codes I used to peel the little sticker off my apples, bananas, and oranges without giving it a second thought. I assumed it was just there for the cashier. Then I started wondering what those numbers actually meant. Like many people, I’d heard two things over the years: A number beginning with 9 means organic. A number beginning with 8 means GMO. One of those is true. The other has a much more interesting story. Rather than repeating what I’d seen on social media or other websites, I decided to go

Summer Solstice and the Art of the Pause

A Wellness Ritual for Women After 50 The longest day of the year deserves more than a passing mention on the calendar. The Northern Hemisphere Summer Solstice will take place on June 21, 2026. The Playlists That Got Me Through: How Music Heals Caregivers and the Loved Ones We Care For

What Music Does to the Brain That Alzheimer’s Cannot Undo Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are relentless. They chip away at names, faces, places, and the memories that stitch a life together. But they leave something behind, and researchers are still marveling at what that something is.   Dedicated to my Dad, on what would have been his birthday. Happy Heavenly Birthday. Moments I will never forget include listening to my Mom sing every word to songs I never knew she knew. It wasn’t something I experienced growing up. I was surprised yet joyful to watch her sing and dance to
